  • Assisting with blood collection procedures under the guidance of experienced professionals.
  • Participating in the processing and testing of donated blood to ensure its safety and quality.
  • Learning and applying standard operating procedures and protocols related to blood banking and laboratory processes.
  • Contributing to the efficient management and organization of blood inventory.
  • Assisting in the coordination of blood drives and public awareness campaigns.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth operations and effective service delivery.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to blood donations and laboratory activities.
  • Participating in training sessions, workshops, and educational programs to enhance professional growth and knowledge in the field.
  • Adhering to strict ethical and safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of donors and staff members.
  • Undertaking any additional tasks or projects as assigned by the internship program supervisors.
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant field of study such as Medical Technology, Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, or a related discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
  • A passion for serving the community and a commitment to the values and mission of SANBS.
