The National Library of South Africa (NLSA) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Human Resources Management Trainee / Intern. As a Human Resources Management Trainee / Intern at NLSA, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our HR team to support various functions of human resources management. You will assist in recruitment and selection processes, participate in employee onboarding and orientation, contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, and engage in various HR projects and initiatives.

  • Assist in the recruitment and selection process by posting job vacancies, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
  • Support the onboarding process for new employees by preparing orientation materials, facilitating orientation sessions, and coordinating training activities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices in compliance with relevant legislation and organizational objectives.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, leave records, and performance evaluations.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team, including drafting correspondence, updating HR databases, and responding to employee inquiries.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about developments in the field of human resources management and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field (current enrollment or recent graduate preferred).
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in human resources management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience in human resources or related field is an asset but not required.
